Getting to Knoooooooooow You

Got from anysomething

THE PROBLEM WITH LJ: WE ALL THINK WE ARE SO CLOSE, BUT REALLY, WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER. SO I WANT YOU TO ASK ME SOMETHING YOU THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME. SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS, BUT YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT. ASK AWAY.

THEN POST THIS IN YOUR LJ AND FIND OUT WHAT PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU.

Howl, Part II

"There is no 'beat generation'. Just a bunch of guys trying to get published." -- Allen Ginsberg

I am quickly becoming obessed with a film that I doubt will be shown at our local Akron Regal Cinema. Th darling of the fall 2010 film festival circut, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's Howl starring the magnificent James Franco (as Allen Ginsberg), Jon Hamm and Mary-Louise Parker, the film centers around the obscenity trial against Ginsberg's poem Howl in 1957. The trailer can be seen here:

The sad part is I have feeling I'll have to wait for this one on DVD. Our Regal cinema is notorious for not showing "controversial" films.

(My apologies to those of you on my flist who have no idea what I'm on about! Entries marked English Class are far from required reading for you all ;P)

Brevity the soul of wit?Collapse )

Bad Romance

Trying to dissect this video nearly killed me. I thought perhaps I'd use it for my paper for English class? FAIL.

On Wednesday we discussed "Telephone", and that one's easy for me: I'm a consummate Tarantino fan and even just those references (The Bride from Kill Bill, the prison scene from the Grindhouse Trailer for Werewolf Women of the SS, even a David Bowie lookalike), but "Bad Romance"? Hrm. How about not. I don't know how Russian mobsters related to romance at all. I mean, hell, Viggo Mortenson played one and I didn't even find that mafioso attractive.

However, the Supernatural references at the end are killer.

Writer's Block: Ten minutes in heaven

If you could have 10 minutes alone with anyone in the world where you could do or say whatever you wanted without consequences, who would you choose and what would you do?

I'd corner C.S. Forester and ask him who really pushed Captain Sawyer down the hold.

Kidding! Kidding!

Ladies and...well, ladies...the search for the perfect 40's era red nail polish is officially OVER!

What message would you put into a fortune cookie?

"The love of your life will be wearing white tennis shoes and an Apple Jacks t-shirt."

AH! :D Another Old Hollywood fic meme. Admittedly, the last fic meme I did wasn't supposed to be geared toward Old Hollywood, but, of course, a lot of my character/pairing picks leaned toward the classics (because, seriously, unless you have eightiswild [who is hereby tagged!] on your flist, too, who else even knew who Slim and Steve were? [my icon should be a clue]). Well, now I give you The Many Characters of Old Hollywood, pt. I meme! Pick ten of your favourite characters from classic cinema, and assign them each a prompt. Then, get some of your lovely friends to write them as commentfic! Okay, okay, maybe write a few yourself, too.

Like I said, I offically tag eightiswild ,and anyone else who even knows any of these characters.

Prompt List Here...Collapse )
